Appeal for Redditch builders to help to support Lee

Redditch Editorial 11th Feb, 2017   0

A CALL has been issued for builders, painters, plumbers and plasterers in Redditch to get involved in a building project to help a family in need.

Tony Hateley, owner of TH Developments and Kensi Hope Interiors, is backing the campaign to fix-up a downstairs bathroom for ex-soldier Lee Hart, who is seriously ill with a brain tumour.

Lee, aged 39, was diagnosed with the tumour in November 2016 and the treatment is badly affecting his balance.

This means much of everyday life – especially walking up stairs – can be difficult and the Redditch community is now pulling together to help him get the facilities he needs at home.

Tony wants to kit out a downstairs washroom, complete with walk-in shower so that Lee can continue to live at home with his wife Melissa, safely and in comfort.

On March 20, Tony and the staff from TH Developments will be setting up shop at Lee’s home in Headless Cross to transform their garage into an accessible washroom space – but they need more people to help.

“If we can make their lives a little easier and more dignified, then we should,” said Tony. “I am more than happy to give up my wages for two weeks and for the company to go without profits for a fortnight to help this family.

“We’ve already had interest from several Redditch building companies who have offered to give their services free of charge, but we need more to make it happen.”

Tony is giving the materials for the build at cost price and all labour for free.

“Lee is a lovely guy who deserves a break. He’s given his life to protect our country and the least we can do is help him out,” he said.

Local people invited to give a few hours of their time to help the cause, and anyone wishing to help can call Tony on 07939 672577 or visit https://www.facebook.com/kensihopeinteriors/?hc_ref=SEARCH
