Apple Day date set for Headless Cross Orchard

REDDITCH is set to welcome back its annual ‘Apple Day’ organised by the volunteers at Headless Cross Community Orchard.

The event runs from 11am to 4pm tomorrow (Saturday, October 18).

It was due to be held at the beginning of the month but was delayed, due to Storm Amy.

As well as apple juicing, there will be a barbecue, craft stalls, Alvechurch Morris Men, a cider bar selling locally-brewed cider and a cider competition.

There will also be live music from Revolving Door, Sofa, Hedgerow Pete, Revenge of the Wrinklies and Red Vengeance.

Since 2009, volunteers have helped conserve the Headless Cross Community Orchard as a leisure place by planting Worcestershire fruit trees and two years later ‘Apple Day’ returned to bring the community together.

The orchard also encourages the community to give back by asking any excess fruit and vegetables be donated to its Harvest Stall.

Organisers say the event promises to be a great day out for all ages.

Admission is free.
