Arrive Alive gets in gear to help Community First Responders

Redditch Editorial 18th May, 2021   0

SMALL but mighty charity Arrive Alive is to support Alcester and District Community First Responders to continue to save lives.

Birmingham-based Arrive Alive is the only registered charity of its kind dedicated to funding lifesaving voluntary operated 999 vehicles and equipment.

In just under two years the non-government or national lottery funded registered charity has been able to fund and launch various pieces of emergency medical equipment and range of vehicles to Community Responder Groups trained by West Midlands Ambulance.

Each of the groups that operate the vehicles are dispatched to 999 calls by West Midlands Ambulance Service, a further nine vehicles are required across the Midlands.

Arrive Alive, whoch will now cover Redditch and Studley as well as Alcester, has still been operational throughout the pandemic helping to save lives within communities.

A CFR can arrive to the scene of a 999 medical emergency within those vital seconds/minutes prior to a road or air ambulance due to being based directly within the heart of the community.

Each of the vehicles is operated by medically trained volunteers known as Community First Responders.

Andy Jeynes from West Midlands Ambulance Service said, “Its fantastic the support Arrive Alive has already given to these schemes as they are independent from the Ambulance Service and fund all their own uniform and equipment.

For every Car that Arrive Alive has provided to one of our Volunteer schemes that is potentially another life saved in the Community.”

Fundraising has been dramatically impacted due to the cancellation of fundraising events which is one of the main sources of charitable income that funds each of the lifesaving vehicles. Additional vehicles and equipment are urgently needed to help to continue to save lives.

A JustGiving page has been launched to assist with funding resources for Alcester & District C
