Attempted robbery in Redditch

Redditch Editorial 22nd Feb, 2016 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

A MAN has attempted to rob a convenience store in Church Hill but was thwarted by members of staff who refused to hand over the cash from the till.

He entered the shop on Parkfield Close at about 8.20pm on Wednesday (February 17). He approached the counter and began to tap on the computer screen attached to the till. The workers noticed he was carrying a small blade when he threatened them and demanded they opened the till. They refused and when they went to approach him he fled the scene via the alleyway to Norbury Close and Stoke Lane.

He is about 5ft 10ins and wearing dark clothing, a face covering with a hooded jacket and possible Nike trainers.

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have information to contact them on the non emergency 101 number or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
