A DONKEY will play a leading role in a procession through Alcester on Palm Sunday, March 29, as local churches celebrate Easter.
The event, organised by Alcester Minster Churches, will start at the recreation ground on Stratford Road at 9.40am, where there will be a short act of worship.
It will then proceed across Gas House Lane, up Malt Mill Lane, turn left into Church Street and cross the road opposite St Nicholas Church gates.
Those taking part will sing the hymn ‘Make way, make way for Christ the King’ before going into church for the Palm Sunday celebration service, which should begin at 10am.
The Revd Adrian Guthrie, rector of Alcester Minster, said: “Palm Sunday processions are held in many towns to mark the start of Holy Week, and I am delighted that we are able to do this in Alcester this year.”
Details of Easter services can be found on the Alcester Minster Churches’ website, http://www.alcesterminster.org.uk/, or on Facebook.
