Beloved Redditch teacher retiring after 31 years

A ‘BELOVED’ teaching assistant is packing away her pencil case for the last time after working at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic School for 31 years.

Lynn Edwards, who started working at the school in 1992, retired last month.

She has had various roles including caretaker, cleaner in charge, lunchtime supervisor and teaching assistant for children with special educational needs. Approaching 2,000 children will have passed through Lynn’s care over the course of her career.

Lynn has also worked alongside parents as a member of the PFA, raising cash for the school.

Assistant headteacher Tammy Mitchell said: “Lynn has a wonderful sense of humour and is one of the most positive people you could ever meet.

“She has always gone above and beyond her role at our school, attending residentials, sporting events and numerous school trips.

“It is with great sadness we say goodbye to our wonderful colleague and friend but we wish her all the luck and happiness in the world for her retirement.”
