BIG-HEARTED children at Batchley First and Nursery School have donated dozens of items to Women’s Aid.

The youngsters have gifted food, toiletries, baby food, milk, nappies, selection boxes, books and brand new toys.

Teaching assistant, Mrs Michelle Hicks, who arranged the collection, said: “This is a charity very close to my heart.

“I feel privileged to see the response we have had.”

Mrs Hicks, who has supported Women’s Aid since before the first lockdown, will hand deliver the gifts herself.

Headteacher Mrs Sarah Downes added: “Covid-19 has made life more challenging than ever.

“The charity needed our support in the approach to Christmas.

“Batchley families made great contributions and the collections bins are now overflowing and are ready to deliver.

“We send out a massive thank you to those who have donated items and shown such kindness.”

Women’s Aid is a grassroots organisation working together to provide life-saving services in England and build a future where domestic abuse is not tolerated.
