Blind charity is spur for Redditch run trio

Redditch Editorial 26th Mar, 2016 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

THREE brave runners will put their best feet forward next month as they pound the capital’s pavements as part of the gruelling London marathon.

Jo Scott and mother-and-son duo Stephanie Cox and Dylan Nolan will tackle the 26-mile run on April 24 in aid of VICTA – a charity which helps blind and partially sighted children.

VICTA provides emotional support for both the children and their families and works with them to ensure the youngsters get the same opportunities as sighted children.

It’s a cause close to the three’s hearts as neither of them could imagine the thought of not being able to run or live life like people who are lucky enough to have their sight are able to.

But prior to the marathon, Jo, Steph and Dylan will take part in a run of a very different kind. The friends will host a charity race night on Saturday, April 9 at Redditch Cricket, Rugby and Hockey Club from 7pm.

They offer a warm welcome to anyone who fancies popping along and trying their luck by buying a horse, which are priced at £5.

The best jockey’s in the house will take home £20 and a raffle is also on offer for guests with all proceeds going to VICTA.
