Bloomers bring a sparkling boost to Studley Christmas Lights campaign

AN amazing £448 was raised to make Studley really sparkle this Christmas at a recent coffee morning organised by the Studley in Bloom team.

The event was in aid of the village’s Christmas Lights Appeal and saw local people flock to the Co-op supermarket venue to snap up delicious delicacies washed down with lots of tea and coffee. A raffle also did a booming trade with tickets being snapped up.

The aim was to raise as much money as possible to extend the Christmas lights at least as far as the war memorial on the Alcester Road where it was hoped they could site an illuminated poppy.

“It was really well supported and thanks to the generosity of local people the poppy will be going up!” said Jill Liebthal, chair of Studley in Bloom who also paid tribute to the Co-op, everyone who contributed to the day and especially Diane Clarke who baked so many cakes.

“It’s nice to see different groups can work together and this was something we were more than happy to do,” she added.
