PLANT a Plant Day at Matchborough First School Academy was ‘just perfect’ according to the chair of governors Councillor Juliet Brunner.

Every year the school holds a day of horticultural appreciation for children, parents, grandparents and carers.

The children bring in their choice of plants and help to fill up the planting boxes, pots and flower beds.

This year’s theme was the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee so there were lots of red white blue and purple coloured plants.

Plants pots and compost were donated by supermarket Morrisons very own community champion Bev Allington.

Bev said: “I am really pleased that my role as community champion enables me on behalf of Morrisons to support these wonderful initiatives.”

Coun Brunner added: “It was delightful to see the children and their families planting the flowers together at the school, my thanks go to the school’s eco champion and all the staff who prepared the school for Plant A Plant Day.”
