BRITISH cycling legend Chris Boardman MBE is about to open his Boardman Bikes Performance Centre in Evesham, a mere 18 miles from Redditch.
The new facility, which officially opens on Monday, April 30, promises to offer a unique and world class customer experience for cyclists and triathletes of all levels, from Olympic, Paralympic and Tour De France champions to weekend leisure riders.
Boardman is an Olympic gold medallist, three times winner of Tour de France stages and wearer of the yellow jersey and three times holder of the one hour time trial record.
The facility is designed around Boardman’s own Cycling Specific Wind-Tunnel – the first of its kind in the UK, which will sit at the heart of the site.
Redditch has been at the centre of the cycle trade for more than 100 years.
The famous Royal Enfield brand was made here and the trade is still carried on here through people like bespoke bike maker and repairer Doug Pinkerton.
On Thursday, May 10, Redditch will once again host the start of the nationwide Tour Series, which is screened on ITV4 to a global audience of millions.
