A TWITTER account has been removed after it was found to be causing concerns for residents with claims patients at the A&E at the Alex were having to wait up to six hours for treatment.

The alarm was raised after a posting on WMidsEmergencyAlerts page on Monday (February 15) said the waiting time was 399 minutes and 38 people were still awaiting care.

Worcestershire Acute Hospital Trust assured the public all patients were seen within the deemed acceptable four hour wait.

A spokeswoman said: “On Monday all patients were seen in under one hour 23 minutes of their arrival at A&E and the average waiting time, the time from arriving to discharge or admission, was three hours 14 minutes.”

A spokeswoman from West Midlands Police said: “We have been trying to get to the bottom of who is running this unofficial site and we warn residents to take what was said on this account with a pinch of salt.”
