IMPROVED sports facilities are in the pipeline for residents of Alcester and Studley after Stratford-on-Avon District Council and SLM Ltd signed a new leisure management contract.
The new contract is for an initial 10-year period with the option to extend for two periods of up to five years each, with a maximum total contract term of 20 years and covers Studley Leisure Centre and The Greig Leisure Centre, as well as the districts other leisure centres in Stratford, Southam and Shipston.
The partnership will also see a total investment in excess of £3million over the next 12-15 months across the leisure centres, which includes a new group cycling studio with atmospheric lighting, new gym with the latest Technogym equipment and enhanced fitness offering at The Greig Leisure Centre and a complete poolside refurbishment with enhanced swimming experience including sensory lighting and new changing facilities at Studley Leisure Centre.
Councillor Matt Jennings, culture, tourism and leisure portfolio said: “The district council has worked with SLM for a number of years, and they are a leader in their field with 34 years of experience in the leisure industry.
“The council is making significant investments and the new contract will boost and build upon our extensive leisure offer.
