Bordesley weekender invitation to visit ancient Redditch abbey site

Redditch Editorial 17th Jul, 2019   0

ROLL up your sleeves and get digging down at the Bordesley Weekend this Saturday and Sunday, July 20-21.

The volunteer-led event, from 11am to 4pm, coincides with the National Festival of Archaeology 2019 and lifts the lid on Redditch’s famous medieval site.

There will be expert guided tours of the ruins of the 12th Century abbey at 11.30 am and 2pm on both days and also a special exhibition about the abbey and the Cistercian order of monks as well as showing many of the excavated finds from the ruins.

There will be an activity for budding young archaeologists to try out and refreshments will be available from the coffee bar at Forge Mill Needle Museum.

Normal entry fees apply but the day also includes free entry to the museum.
