BOROUGH councillor Paul Swansborough of Ukip has been chosen as their candidate to fight for the Redditch seat in the forthcoming General Election.
The Redditch branch of the party had initially chosen Peter Jewell, who fought the 2015 election, as their candidate.
However Mr Jewell, who has responsibility for Ukip fund raising, decided to step aside in favour of Mr Swansborough who is also a candidate in the Worcestershire county council elections in Arrow Valley East.
Mr Swansborough said: “I am delighted and honoured to be able to represent Ukip in the Parliamentary Election in Redditch. Peter’s role in the party is essential and he is simply running out of hours in the day.
“I certainly will be calling on his knowledge and experience. I know that he holds Redditch very dear to his heart.”
