A SANCTUARY Care Home employee has been left shocked and overwhelmed after getting through to the national finals of the Great British Care Awards (GBCA).

Kay Walker, a domestic supervisor at Redditch-based Brambles Residential Care Home, took home the ‘Ancillary Worker West Midlands’ award last week.

After winning at county-level, Kay will now go head to head with finalists from across the country at the GBCA finals next year.

She was nominated for the kindness and compassion she shows her Birchfield Road residents.

“Everything I do is for them,” said Kay.

“I am very grateful to have reached the finals and to be in with a chance of winning the amazing award.”

Brambles’ home manager Andrew Woodward said: “Everyone at Sanctuary Care is thrilled for Kay.

“The way she supports our residents is wonderful to see.

“She is inspirational to our team and residents alike and we are really lucky to have her in our home.”
