BRAVE St Bede’s pupil Lottie Frascina has won the Pride of Britain Teenager of Courage award after raising more than £38,000 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital charity.

The youngster needed major surgery at the Childrens Hospital after a sinus infection spread to her brain causing five cerebral abscesses on her frontal lobe.

As a thank you for saving her life and for their continued incredible care, Lottie, from Wixford, near Alcester, started fundraising on TikTok by doing a dance for everyday she was a patient.

Lottie said: “The thought of another operation was really scary, so making and sharing my TikTok videos helped keep my mind off it.”

Thankfully, Lottie recovered without the need for more surgery, but she kept making her videos every day until she could go home.

She said: “I was really proud to get to £1,000, but I couldn’t believe it when people kept giving and I eventually raised over £38,000.

“I really hope it will make a difference.”

Julie Bush from St Bede’s said: “Lottie has a fantastic positive attitude that we see every day in school, and we are delighted that her incredible hard work has been recognised in this way – it is thoroughly deserved.”

Although Lottie has well surpassed her target, herself and her family have no plans to stop fundraising.
