A bright future ahead for Redditch - New Year's message from Council Leader

Redditch Editorial 1st Jan, 2016 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

I HOPE you all had a wonderful Christmas and an enjoyable New Year!

Looking forward there is definitely a bright future ahead for Redditch – particularly with regards to jobs and skills with the progression of the Eastern Gateway. We’ve got an event coming up soon where local businesses can hear about “Operation Improve Redditch”; the project that will link us with the local colleges and Birmingham University to offer graduate placements and work experience.

New Year normally means a fresh start for everyone but unfortunately some problems carry over, so we’ll continue to fight the challenge we’re faced with at the Alexandra Hospital.

In December, with full council support, we passed a motion to endorse necessary action and we are meeting with the Trust Development Agency again later this month. We must find a solution to ensure that our residents get the safe, permanent services they deserve.

But whilst there may be troubles like this in the background, I know that the Redditch community will always stand strong. With relations as close as North Worcestershire and as far away as Gruchet-La-Valasse and Auxerre we will continue to prosper and develop partnerships to get the best for our residents. And of course our annual programme of events is always a great way to bring everyone together and they promise to be just as good this year!

We’ve an exciting year ahead of us, with opportunities around every corner so we will start the year as we mean to go on and grasp each and every one of them.
