Bright future beckons for prize-winning student with First Class Honours degree

A BRIGHT future beckons for Redditch student Rachael Piper after completing a First Class Honours degree in Biological Sciences at Exeter University, winning the Syngenta Plant Biology Prize in the process.

Redditch born and bred, Rachael went to Vaynor and Walkwood Schools, moving on to St Augustine’s before doing her A Levels at Alcester Grammar.

She’s now been offered a place at Imperial College London to do her Masters.

Proud dad Tim Piper said: “I’m so proud of her – she’s worked really hard for this and always did jobs, for instance at H&M in Exeter to fund herself through university.

“She’s like her uncle Ross Piper who got a First Class Honours in Zoology and Entymology and is now a Doctor of Zoology. He’s from Redditch too.”

Syngenta says its ambition is ‘to help safely feed the world while taking care of the planet’.
