Bromsgrove and Redditch Sea Cadets crowned champions at drill compeition

CADETS from Redditch and Bromsgrove Sea Cadets were crowned champions at a Drill and Piping Competition.

Last weekend, Sea Cadets from all over Warwickshire district took part in the annual event, including both team and individual categories.

In addition to gold, silver and bronze medals being awarded, there was also a points system calculated throughout the contest resulting in an overall score for each unit within the district.

Redditch and Bromsgrove Sea Cadets were awarded the District Trophy as Overall Drill and Piping Champions.

Commanding officer Lisa Wood MA RNR congratulated all cadets who worked so hard to achieve the results.

She said: “We are so proud of you, and thank you to all volunteer staff who gave up their time to make this happen.”

The Sea Cadets provide young people with the best possible head start in life through nautical adventure and fun, based on the customs and traditions of the modern Royal Navy.

Entirely volunteer-led, all Sea Cadet units are registered charities – they do not receive any government funding and rely entirely on charitable donations to enable them to operate.

Margaret Blizzard, chair of the charity, stressed the importance of community support and added they were seeking sponsorship from local businesses to help and support their work.

Based on Park Farm Industrial Estate there are several large businesses located there which they would love to hear from to see how they could get involved.
