'Bruised' and 'bloody' Redditch model protests against the wool industry

A REDDITCH woman has taken to the streets this week nearly-nude in a protest against the wool industry.

25 year-old Loretta Hope joined two other nearly-naked PETA models on the streets of Birmingham, Leeds and Liverpool to show the world what they thought about wearing wool.

“I wanted to spread the message that sheep are not coats, jumpers, or scarves,” said Hope.

“When every single PETA exposé of the wool industry has revealed petrified sheep with bloody wounds and broken limbs, there’s simply no excuse to wear wool – especially when there are so many innovative vegan fabrics to choose from.”

Hope, who was body-painted to look bruised and bloodied, took to the streets while holding a sign that read, “Sheep kicked and beaten for wool” while another model covered her breasts with a “dead lamb” and the third held a placard that read, “The naked truth: wool hurts”.

PETA’s international affiliates, whose shared motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to wear”, have released five exposés, recorded at 37 facilities on three continents, which reveal that sheep are mutilated, abused, and skinned alive – even for so-called “responsibly sourced” wool on so-called “sustainable” farms. PETA found that shearers are often paid by volume, not by the hour, encouraging fast, violent work, and many sheep are left with wounds that workers then stitch closed without painkillers.
