YOUNG people in Redditch can still enter Worcestershire’s Word Up! competition.
It’s open to young people aged 13 to 19 who live in Worcestershire, or attend a school, college and university or youth club in the area.
They are asked to submit two poems, one on the subject of ‘freedom’ and another on a subject of their choice.
Current Young Poet Laureate, Oakley Flanagan, is nearing the end of his reign but has enjoyed his experience, which has seen him working to promote issues affecting young people throughout his year.
Councillor Lucy Hodgson, cabinet member for Communities, Worcestershire County Council said: “This can be an emotional time of year.
“Writing poetry can be a great outlet to express yourself. Why not enter the Word Up! competition?”
Natalie McVey, service lead for young people added: “It’s straight forward to enter and it doesn’t matter if you haven’t written much before – we still want to hear from you and you never know where it will lead once you log onto www.worcestershire.gov.uk/wordup.”
The closing date is December 31. For more information please contact Natalie on 07876 144905 or 01905 765754.
