Water supplies start to come on as Severn Trent bypasses burst pipe

SEVERN Trent say they have managed to bypass the water pipe that burst this morning at the roundabout where Icknield Street Drive meets battens Drive by Morrisons.

The firm says the majority of residents and businesses affected should see water supplies return within the next couple of hours as the pipes refill.

A spokesperson said: “We’re still working hard to get the last few people back on water by moving water around our network in a different way to normal and, at the same time, we’ll be starting to repair the pipe.

“Part of the Warwick Highway is now closed for our teams to continue their work safely and effectively.

“A massive thank you to everyone in the Redditch area for your continued patience, and our apologies to everyone who’s been affected.”

The pipe burst this morning causing delays for rush hour commuters across the town.

Schools and businesses have been forced to close including Cutting Edge hair salon in Church Hill to the north and Matchborough dental surgery to the south.

Last year the Winyates area was the scene of extensive work by Severn Trent as they laid new pipes to update the supply system.
