LATEST figures show that Worcestershire is now home to more than 40,000 companies for the very first time – highlighting its popularity as a place to do business.

At the end of May 2019, 41,383 businesses were registered in the county according to company secretarial software specialists Inform Direct, based on statistics from Companies House and the Office of National Statistics.

Leading the way were Bromsgrove with 11,587, followed by Wychavon with 9,480 and Wyre Forest with 5,553.

Worcestershire’s location in the heart of the UK is highlighted as a major advantage for business, with excellent road and rail links and three international airports within an hour’s drive.

John Korchak, director of operations at Inform Direct said: “These latest figures show that Worcestershire clearly provides a supportive environment for new business ventures.

“The county is already home to global brands including Morgan Cars, Worcester Bosch and Worcestershire Sauce and the Worcestershire 5G Consortium is playing a leading role in UK digital transformation. It is clear that all of these factors, including a growing tourism sector, are having a positive effect on the business economy.”
