Call for picture evidence of dangerous parking on Far Moor Lane

RESIDENTS in Winyates Green are being urged to take photographs and shoot videos of parked cars clogging up Far Moor Lane.

The plea comes from County Councillor Tom Baker-Price (Con, Arrow Valley East) in an effort to collect evidence to present to county Highways officers.

Locals say cars are parking along a bad bend in the road where it joins the Alders Drive / Coventry Highway island, creating a hazard for drivers.

However Coun Baker-Price said evidence was needed as whenever Worcestershire highways officers had visited the area there had been no cars parked on the bend.

“Myself and fellow Councillor Juliet Brunner have met with Highways and part of the problem is that the junction actually comes under the ownership of the nearby garage,” he said.

“I’ve been out there and I’m quite worried about the safety aspect and I think something needs to be done, however Highways are less convinced.

“Residents need to send us videos and photographs so we can demonstrate to the officers that there is a problem here.”

Parking along Far Moor Lane has increased as a result of more office workers leaving there cars there.

Local resident Anthony Bartlam said: “The top end of Far Moor Lane by the garage and offices has now been turned into a car park with no less than up to 26 cars parked on any day, mostly with two wheels on and two wheels off the pavement causing obstructions for walkers, pram pushers and disabled people as far as the junction with Kingham Close.

“It is a blind bend and I had a narrow escape the other day narrowly missing a bus coming in the opposite direction.

“It will be even more of a problem when the Eastern Gateway project gets under way.

“What’s happened to the Highway Code regulations that say no parking on a bend or opposite junctions?”

Residents can send their pictures and videos to Coun Baker-Price either at 07570 12111 or email [email protected] .
