WYTHALL Community Choir will be travelling to London on June 6 to sing at the annual general meeting of the OneFamily Foundation.

Fifty of the 90-strong ensemble will be making the journey to the capital to provide lunchtime songs at Glaziers Hall by London Bridge.

“We were thrilled to have been invited to sing at the AGM, especially as the Foundation have been so generous to us,” said member Val Jones.

“It’s like being able to give something back. We will be singing a few folk songs, a couple of sacred classics, excerpts from the musical Oliver and also a Westlife classic.

“Our accompanist, Peter Flower, will be playing for us and also doing a piano solo.”

Excitement is high among choir members and there may well be a practice session or two on the coach.

Last year the Community Choir received a £5,000 grant from the OneFamily Foundation which was mainly spent on buying folders and new music booklets – such as Oliver, Bridge Over Troubled Water and some sacred classics by Mozart, Vivaldi, Bach and Handel.

The OneFamily Foundation is part of the OneFamily Assurance Friendly Society Limited.

They give back to their customers and their communities through the Foundation Community Awards.

“We were fortunate in being nominated by one of our choir members who is one of their customers,” said Val.
