Care home opening doors to lonely Redditch residents this Christmas

Redditch Editorial 5th Dec, 2023   0

RESIDENTS and staff members from Millcroft care home in Redditch are inviting older people into their home on Christmas Day to enjoy a hot meal and festive celebrations.

According to Age UK, almost 1.5 million older people feel lonelier at Christmas than any other time of the year.

In hopes of making sure no one spends Christmas Day alone, the residents and staff at Millcroft are encouraging over 65s in the community to spend the day with them.

Lyndsay Sard, the Home Manager at Millcroft, said: “No one should feel alone, least of all at Christmas. Our incredible residents and team members want to open their hearts to older people in and around Redditch who may find Christmas to be a difficult time.

“Our guests will be able to enjoy a traditional Christmas meal and relax in a warm and safe home. We’ll be bringing out some classic games and festive movies – we just want everyone to feel part of the family.”

87-year-old Millcroft resident, Pat Tuckley, added: “I think it’s wonderful for people to know that they don’t have to be alone, and that they are welcome somewhere so full of smiles, laughter and love.”

If you or someone you know would like to join the residents at Millcroft for Christmas Day, email [email protected]. or call the team on 01527 433 384.
