LOCAL carer Alex Harris has won a CAREGiver of the Year award at Home Instead Senior Care Redditch and Bromsgrove.
Alex, aged 60 and from Redditch, has worked for Home Instead for more than three years and quickly built a reputation for going above and beyond the call of duty to earn the trust and confidence of her clients and their families.
Previous to working in home care, Alex was an administrator for an amateur horse racing organisation.
Alex was put forward for the award by Home Instead owner Annie Dixon Dunn as well as by her fellow caregivers.
“Alex loves that she can make a real difference in someone’s life,” said Annie.
“She is one of those people who embodies what Home Instead is all about. She is those little extras, those extra miles, those above and beyonds and we are so proud that she is our CAREGiver of the Year 2018!”
Alex works with a client that loves horses, which is a perfect match, given her work in horse racing. Her client used to breed horses when she lived in South Africa and just recently, Alex arranged for her client to be part of a horse and carriage practice session – something she has always wanted to do.
On her special relationship with her client. Alex said: “She is like an older version of me! We have the same sense of humour and we have such a laugh together. People have even mistaken us for mother and daughter!”
