THE people of Redditch have rallied round following the tragic death of much-loved local teenager, Carrick Prentice Underwood.
Tributes flooded in last week after Rob and Maggie Underwood, founders of the Charlotte and Craig Saving Hearts Foundation, announced on Facebook that their 19-year-old son Carrick, had sadly died.
Having already lost two of their children to rare heart conditions – Charlotte Marie in December 2010 and Craig in December 2013 – the couple were left devastated and tributes to both them and their son quickly flooded social media pages.
Since then, an appeal has been launched to try and raise £3,000 to help towards funeral costs for the fundraisers’ son.
The appeal, set up by online community group Spotted:Redditch, has so far seen 160 people donate money, raising almost £2,600 between them.
A spokesperson for the group said: “Let’s get this final journey for Carrick as perfect as it can be.
“Maggie and Robert raise money to place defibrillators within our community, to try and save our family and friends from facing the same tragedy they have had to go through. They are the nicest most selfless couple I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. They do everything for our community to help raise money to save lives, turning their pain into positive things.
“It’s our chance to show our appreciation for what they do for us, and to help a Redditch family in tragedy.”
