REDDITCH MP Rachel Maclean, MP has formally submitted the town’s application for the government’s Future High Streets Fund bid.

Last Tuesday, April 24, she was joined by borough Councillor Julian Grubb (Con, Abbey) in Westminster to officially handover the town’s bid to the Minister for Local Growth Jake Berry MP.

The borough is bidding for a share of the £675million fund, announced last year, which can be used by towns to transform their high streets.

“Congratulations to the Redditch Conservatives and to all staff on Redditch Borough Council who have worked on the town’s Future High Streets Fund bid,” said Mrs Maclean.

“A lot of hard work and effort has gone into developing this bid which will stand the town in good stead when ministers allocate funding to successful bids.

“The work doesn’t stop here. I’ll continue to lobby ministers and press the case for Redditch to receive its fair share of this vital funding.”

Jake Berry MP, Minister for Local Growth added: “High streets are changing as more people shop online but we are determined to see high streets and town centres remain at the heart of the community.”
