Cash is magic for Millie

REDDITCH’S MP joined a fund-raising campaign to help create a sensory garden for a little girl who has cerebral palsy and epilepsy.

Karen Lumley popped into a charity fun day at the Abbeydale Club which raised more than £1,000 for youngster Millie O’Conner.

Fund-raisers want to use the cash to create Millie’s Magical Garden for the five-year-old from Abbeydale who is unable to talk and who uses a wheelchair.

Her mum, Emma Grantham, set up the campaign after seeing the impact of the sensory garden at her school and was overwhelmed by the response to the day.

“I can’t thank you all enough.” she said. “Millie’s garden will be well on the way.”

Mrs Lumley added: “I was really heartened to read about Millie’s campaign. Millie is a lovely girl and her mum does a great job in difficult circumstances with Millie unable to talk and needing a wheelchair.

“I cannot begin to imagine how difficult it is to see your child restricted by disability and hope the money raised can help make Emma’s and Millie’s lives better.”

The MP provided some of the money left over from her tours of Parliament and also a bottle of wine signed by the Prime Minister for the fun day.

The event also included a disco, bouncy castle, face painting, cakes and candy floss.
