Cash to help Alex and Worcestershire Royal hit A&E 95 per cent target

Redditch Editorial 25th Apr, 2017   0

THE Accident & Emergency departments at the Alex and Worcestershire Royal Hospital are to share nearly £1 million in extra funding following an announcement by the Department for Health.

The cash – £920,000 in all – has been released to help ease pressure on A&E in time for next winter.

It is part of a £55.98million package outlined in the spring Budget which is being allocated to 70 NHS hospitals.

The Department of Health has said the money will be used by hospitals to meet the 95 per cent standard of admitting, transferring, or discharging patients within four hours by ensuring patients are treated in the most appropriate setting.

This is a target which Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs both the Alex and Worcestershire Royal, as well as Kidderminster General, hasn’t hit for more than two years.
