PUPILS, staff and governors at Temple Grafton Primary school marked its 150th anniversary last Friday with a special community fair and church service attended by former heads.

Festivities began with a fitting tribute to its founding era with children arriving dressed in Victorian costume for the day.

Youngsters also participated in games and activities prevalent in Victorian times before a special service, led by Rev Sheila Bridge, was held at St Andrew’s Church.

Two former leaders were invited to share their memories and experiences, offering personal reflections on their time at the school.

Rev Bridge delivered a thought-provoking address which focused on the school’s motto ‘together we shine’, highlighting the importance of each individual contributing their light to create a brighter future, and emphasising the need for a collective effort as school moved forward into its next chapter.

Head teacher Tara Yorke told the Standard the day concluded with the much-anticipated school summer fair, which was a “joyous event that encapsulated the spirit of celebration”.
