A RESTAURANT in Redditch has been named one of the best in the country, beating thousands of other entrants in the Asian Curry Awards 2017.
Champagne Express, on Unicorn Hill has been shortlisted in the Midlands category of the awards which recognise the very best in the industry.
Going up against ten other finalists, including restaurants in Birmingham and Derby, Champagne Express must impress judges in the final round if they are to reach the top spot.
The restaurant specialises in a fusion of Bangladeshi and Indian cuisine and owner Abdul Ullah said: “We are humbled and proud to be shortlisted for the award, it is absolutely amazing.
“Our customers have nominated us and voted for us year after year and are very loyal.
“We try to think out of the box with our dishes for example we have the Balti Towers and the Curry in a Hurry.
“We also hold charity functions, live entertainment and our unique curry-oke evenings.
“I think that’s what really sets us apart.”
In 2015, the team finished regional runner up against the best curry houses in the Midlands – but this time they are hoping to further.
The Asian Curry Awards recognise the best in the industry and aims to inspire the next generation of chefs and restaurateurs to join the sector.
More than a 100,000 public nominations were received for the competition which includes takeaways as well as restaurants.
The Asian Catering Federation Gala Dinner and Award Ceremony are on November 12 at the Great Room in Mayfair, London.
