Chance for children to audition for Redditch panto

Redditch Editorial 8th Sep, 2017   0

REDDITCH youngsters who fancy treading the boards this Christmas are invited to audition this Sunday, September 10.

On the day dance auditions for roles as the all-important dwarves in the Palace Theatre’s family pantomime, Snow White, are being held, and youngsters with a background in modern, ballet and tap are invited to apply.

This year’s panto stars Jai McDowall (Britain’s Got Talent winner), Nicole Faraday (Emmerdale and Bad Girls) and Dave Benson Phillips (Children’s TV presenter).

Naomi Slater will take to the stage as Snow White, and having previously played similar parts of Belle and Cinderella, she has perfected a princess that the audience loves.

“The great thing about pantomime is that it is for everyone,” said Naomi.

“There’s the jokes children will laugh at and the ones that go right over their heads, and instead the adults are laughing.

“It’s fantastic local children are going to be involved too, not just as dancers, but as characters. It’s really special to see everybody pitching in.”

Would-be dwarves must be no older than 12 years on the date of the audition and no younger than nine years on the first day of rehearsals, with a maximum height of 4’11”.

Auditions start at 12noon and all children must be accompanied by an adult.
