Charity Redditch Cat Rescue receives donation off generous feline

Redditch Editorial 29th Oct, 2019   0

CHARITY Redditch Cat Rescue had a surprise donation delivered by an unusual feline visitor last weekend.

The generous cast of Redditch Operatic Society (ROS), who are currently rehearsing for their November showing of CATS, took time out to collect and donate £200 worth of food, litter, bedding, accessories and toys, as well as donating a further £250 towards the charity’s veterinary bills.

Paul Mitchell, who delivered the cheque dressed as his show character Rum Tum Tugger, said: “It was very sad to see so many beautiful cats and kittens looking for good homes.

“As we’re performing CATS next month it seemed more than appropriate for us to help this amazing charity.”

The charity currently has many adult cats, feral cats, pregnant mothers and more than 40 kittens in its care.

Volunteers at the rescue deal with animals which have complex health issues whether related to pregnancy, disabilities or problems associated with cat flu.

Mel Booth from Redditch Cat Rescue, said: “We can’t thank ROS enough for the generous donation.

“Our veterinary bill for last month was more than £4,000, so a donation like this goes a long way.”

ROS will be performing Andrew Lloyd Webber’s classic musical at the Palace Theatre from November 19 to 23.

Tickets are available from the Palace Theatre’s box office or by booking online: www.redditchpalacetheatre.co.uk/whats-on/all-shows/cats
