AFTER a week of indulgence, many people will be hoping get out into the countryside for a refreshing stroll.

A winter walk can offer many health benefits as well as offering a welcome break from the chaos of a Christmas living room filled with wrapping paper.

There are 4,600km of Public Rights of Way in Worcestershire with many walking routes of differing difficulty.

Some suggested routes for the festive season include the Dowles Brook circular in the Wyre Forest, Barnt Green Lickey Hills circular, the Hartlebury Leapgate circular and Romsley Penny Fields Walk.

Councillor Alan Amos, cabinet member with responsibility for highways at Worcestershire County Council said: “Our public rights of way are a huge asset to Worcestershire and showcase some of the best parts of county.”

A full list of circular walks across the whole of Worcestershire can be found on the Worcestershire County Council website.
