THIS structure – which some say looks like a ‘bright yellow grave’ – has caused a stir after popping up on the corner of Hertford Road in Alcester.
It is in fact a fibre cabinet which houses Internet and phone line cables.
It is unknown why it was painted yellow but has provided people with plenty of inspiration to comment in the community and on social media.
Residents took to Facebook to poke fun at the cabinet, describing it as an ‘eyesore’ and ‘Bananaman’s resting place’.
Other suggestions included ‘the tomb of the unknown Alcestrian’ and the town’s new ‘tourist attraction’ whilst one poster said the the paint must have been ‘bought from Derek Trotter’ (from Only Fools and Horses).
For the last few years Openreach has opened its networks to various other companies, so it is unclear which company has chosen such a gaudy colour.
