FUND raising members of Redditch Ladies Circle have made sure the Worcestershire Prostate Awareness Trust is better off after handing it a cheque for £889.
For the past year the Circle has had the Prostate Awareness Trust as its dedicated charity, holding fund raising events including a car boot sale, family skittles night and helping Alcester & District Round Table bring Santa to Studley at Christmas.
And they duly handed over the bumper sum to Trust chairman David Baxter- Smith at their annual general meeting at the Tardebigge Inn.
As many as one in eight men in the UK will develop prostate cancer. The Trust screens men over 45 years of age and each blood test, while free to those being screened, costs it £15.
Part of the national association of Ladies Circles, the Redditch branch offers women aged 18 to 45 the opportunity to make new friends and try new experiences while giving something back to their local community.
