YEAR 4 children at Holyoakes Field First School couldn’t hide their delight last week after nature expert, Sir David Attenborough wrote to them.
The pupils had been learning about plastic pollution and the damage it causes at the start of term last year.
“After talking about ways to improve our school’s carbon footprint, the children carefully planned and wrote personal letters to Sir David,” said a school spokesperson.
Teachers then chose four letters to send to him along with the hand-made posters on plastic pollution the children had made.
Much to their surprise, within a few days, Sir David replied with a hand-written letter.
He said: “I am so glad you are doing so much to help in the fight against plastic pollution.
“Best wishes to you all and good luck in the future.”
