ALCESTER Male Voice Choir is to hold a special service of thanksgiving to mark its 45th birthday.
The service will follow a different format from traditional church services, but will be led by the Revd Adrian Gutherie, Rector of Alcester and the choir’s founder and director of music Judith Land BEM, together with members of the choir.
The choir will also be leading the congregation in the hymn singing as well as performing several songs on their own.
And although the service is being held in Alcester people from across the region are more than welcome to attend.
“We have a a great many supporters in the Redditch area and they are most welcome to attend,” said Judith.
“There have been many milestones over the years and the choir has appeared at some of the most prestigious venues in the country as well as maintaining a regular programme of local concerts helping to raise funds for a variety of charities and organisations.
“I felt that after 45 years it was time to share both the choir’s success and appreciation through a special church service with our supporters and the local community.
“We are a choir family and we work hard together and will continue to do so in the future. but to do that we need the support of not only the choir members and the music team, but of their families, friends and the wider community.”
She added: “We see this thanksgiving service as a way of bringing everyone together to celebrate – all are welcome and we look forward to seeing a packed church to help us mark a very special occasion.”
The service takes place on Sunday, January 20, in St Nicholas Church in Alcester at 3pm.
