A STAGGERING £2,500 was raised for the Alcester Refugee Fund by local choir Tarantara.
The concert, at St Nicholas Church in Alcester, was a complete sell-out with tickets at £15 – the highest ever for a Tarantara concert – selling like hotcakes.
Donations are still rolling in and one generous donor even wrote out a cheque for £500.
“Many people were there because they are fans of Tarantara but others came to help the Alcester Refugee Fund so I think that combination made for a highly successful evening,” said organiser David Strickland-Eales.
The sponsored evening meant every single penny raised will go to help refugees from the war in Syria and from Isis in their camps in the Middle East through the charity Open Doors which provides food, trauma treatment and education.
