Chris Bloore MP visits Gordon Moody to support gambling harm treatment

REDDITCH MP Chris Bloore met with a specialist gambling treatment centre, after figures show the scale of the problem in the town.

Recent data indicates more than 64 per cent of people with high-risk gambling issues in Redditch would like to access treatment, support, or advice.

Additionally, the estimated fiscal cost of gambling-related harm in Redditch stands at £1.6million.

Gordon Moody is the UK’s  provider of residential gambling addiction treatment, offering a safe and structured environment for individuals battling severe gambling-related harm.

During his visit, Mr. Bloore spoke with residents about their personal journeys and challenges in recovery.

He said “Gambling addiction is a silent crisis affecting individuals and families across the country.




“My visit to Gordon Moody reinforced just how vital their work is in helping people recover and rebuild their lives.

“It is crucial that gambling treatment services receive the sustainable funding they need.


“I will continue to push for greater support for gambling recovery services to ensure that those in need receive the help they deserve.”

The visit also highlighted the importance of early intervention and education.

Mr Bloore spoke with recovering gamblers who shared their personal experiences and discussed the potential for delivering educational sessions in schools to raise awareness of gambling-related harm among young people.

Gordon Moody has seen increasing demand for its services, receiving approximately 19 applications per week throughout 2023/24.
