LOCAL heroes Rob and Maggie Underwood are overjoyed after raising more than £2,000 for The Charlotte and Craig Saving Hearts Foundation (CCSHF) during their Christmas Showcase.
The Underwoods, who tied the knot earlier this month on December 5, run CCSHF, formerly known as Redditch Heart Safe, and campaign tirelessly to equip schools and communities with life-saving defibrillators.
Thanks to the charity, every school in Redditch now has one of these life-saving kits and the Underwoods are currently working to equip schools across the borough of Dudley.
The Showcase, which attracted more than 500 guests, was held at Studley Road Social Club on Saturday (December 19) and raised £2,130 in total.
During the event Dave Finch, of Dave’s Roadshow, made a surprise donation of £1,000 after promising the Underwoods he would donate £10 of every party booking he took over the last 12 months.
Dave, who is a close family-friend of Rob and Maggie, has pledged to donate the same amount from each booking he takes over the course of 2016.
“It’s a cause close to my heart,” he added. “The Underwoods are soon to be godparents to my youngest two children and we try to do everything we can for the charity.
“I don’t know how they deal with what they have gone through.”
The event was hailed a great success with parents and children taking part in CPR sessions and a further £97 donated by close friend Debbie Wickett from her cake sales.
Rob said: “It was a really amazing day, we couldn’t believe the turn out and just want to thank everyone who supported us.”
