RESIDENTS of Church Hill had a right royal time on Sunday as they celebrated with a Big Jubilee Lunch at Bomford Hill Park.
People were invited to bring their own picnic and they turned out in their droves despite the weather.
There were plenty of games to offer, including a giant connect four, a splat the rat and a bouncy castle.
Other fun activities included an egg and spoon race while there were plenty of competitions including people guessing how many sweets were in a jar.
One of the highlights of the day was the cake competition, with Kirsty Jeens scooping first prize in the over-16s category for her remarkable effort.
The people of Church Hill have been in the Jubilee mood for well over a month now, as the Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines Portsmouth visited in April as a thank you to Church Hill Big Local, who also organised last weekend’s event.
Coun Bill Hartnett said: “This event will live in the memory of all who attended, not even the rain showers dampened the enthusiasm and joy.
“Church Hill Big Local and the team of volunteers can be proud of what they have achieved and should be congratulated.”
