Churches across the borough to hold services in tribute to Queen Elizabeth II

CHURCHES around Redditch will be holding special services to commemorate the life of Queen Elizabeth II on Sunday September 18, a day before the Queen’s funeral.

St Stephen’s Church’s event will be at 6pm, supported by Redditch Choral Society, civic leaders and the community.

Doors open at 5pm and people need to be seated by 5.45pm

Floral tributes to the Queen have been left in the church porch throughout the week, which has remained open during the period of national mourning.




Residents have been welcomed to the church for prayer and reflection as well as contribute to a book of condolence and light a candle.

St Stephen’s also confirmed its Heritage Open Day, originally scheduled to be held this Saturday, will not be going ahead as a mark of respect to The Queen.


Alcester Bapists Church will hold its service of remembrance at 10.30am.

Kingswood Meeting house in Wythall’s service of remembrance will be at 11am.

It will also open the church on Saturday evening for people to pay their respects and lay flowers.

Studley Methodist Church will hold its usual Sunday Service at 10.45am.

This week led by Jackie Hartrey and Deacon Gwynn Bamford, it will include prayers and tributes to the Queen.
