A SPECIAL class aimed at improving the strength and balance of residents at a Redditch Extra Care Housing Scheme has proved so popular with tenants many are already feeling in better shape after just one month.
The class at St David’s House in Batchley began on January 11 and takes place at 3.30pm every Friday.
As the class has been so popular – described by tenants as ‘good and great fun’ and helping them gain more confidence – the instructor is now keen to carry on working with the group and encourages anyone else who might like to join in should transportation be an issue getting to other classes.
The strength and balance sessions are part of the falls prevention pathway and aim to help people to keep mobile and independent for longer as well as being a fun, social activity.
The manager at St David’s House, Liz Griffiths, said: “It is great to see our tenants’ confidence grow week on week.
“I have a wonderful sense of job satisfaction from watching all of the tenants improve whilst really enjoying themselves.”
