Clean sweep as community does litter blitz in Church Hill

Ross Crawford 19th Mar, 2018

MORE than 30 residents joined the town’s MP and local councillors to clean up the old doctor’s surgery and surrounding Closes in Church Hill last Saturday.

The event was organised by Church Hill Big Local as part of the Great British Spring Clean and in just two hours they collected 35 bags of rubbish.

Also joining in were staff from the local McDonald’s branch who arrived en mass to pitch in and help.

Councillor Bill Hartnett, Leader of Redditch Council, said: “I have been attending these community events for many years and it was great to be joined by so many people.”

Chris Thomas of Church Hill Big Local added: “It was great to see so many of the community volunteer to come out and get stuck in to helping clean up the area.

“Hopefully it will help inspire everyone to help keep where they live clean and tidy.”

St Andrews Methodist Church also kindly provided teas and coffees to help keep the workforce warm and refreshed.
