A REDDITCH nightclub which has been the subject of several complaints by residents living nearby for the past 12 months has been closed.
A full closure order was granted on The Warwick Bar and Nightclub on Ipsley Street by Redditch Magistrates Court this week.
As well as the complaints, there was severe anti-social behaviour and disorder at the venue on December 3.
Police were called to the nightclub and a man was arrested for possession of a firearm.
In response, the Redditch Police Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) and the licensing team gathered evidence for a full closure order application to the courts.
The order states the nightclub must remain closed for three months.
The order prohibits anyone entering the building besides the pub’s owner, utility companies in an emergency and the emergency services. Anyone who breaches the order could be arrested and fined, imprisoned or both.
Insp Richard Field from Redditch SNT, said: “We hope this result will provide some respite from the ongoing issues suffered by neighbours and improve their quality of life.
“The safer neighbourhood team will continue to regularly patrol the area, but in the interim we have asked neighbours to report any potential breaches of the order to us as soon as possible so we can take further action if required.
“Everyone deserves to feel safe and happy where they live, and no one should be subjected to the type of behaviour that was witnessed earlier this month.”
He urged anyone with information about anti-social behaviour in their area to report it to police by calling 101.
“We will take it seriously and we will do all we can to prevent it,” added Insp Field.
