“IT was absolutely fantastic – everyone has been brilliant and we will have raised £2,800 for the year – smashing my target.”

That was the verdict of super baker Di Driscoll after her latest fund raising coffee and cake day on Wednesday in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

And it wasn’t just cakes on sale – a host of local businesses donated vouchers to her raffle while a nearly new clothes sale saw fashions flying off the rail.

“I lost my car keys in the morning and couldn’t collect the scones from Bruno Bakeries but they came to the rescue and delivered them and didn’t charge me a penny,” said Di of Vicarage Crescent.

“M&S again came up trumps as did Sainsbury’s. My table was above and beyond.

“My friends all came to help and those who couldn’t make it sent a donation.

I couldn’t ask for more – mind you I felt like a zombie that evening, I was so tired.”

This was the tenth year Di has run the cake sale raising tens of thousands of pounds for Macmillan in the process.
